Long story short, I was studying for finals at FSU when in a matter of an hour, I lost the vision in my left eye. OK, it’s after midnight and the only option I thought I had was the ER at the Tallahassee hospital. Rather than do that, I waited to see an ophthalmologist the next day, I’m sure I got a lot of sleep that night. lol Thank goodness the ophthalmologist was familiar with Optic Neuritis and gave me some Prednisone and told me that “some,“ if not all, of my sight would return - and to see a neurologist as soon as I got home from school after finals. Back in 1983 there were no MRIs, so the neurologist took a spinal tap and gave me the diagnose of probable MS. A 23 year old collage grad... ready to set the world on fire and, oh yea, I’ve got MS! I had my first flare up shortly after coming home. Well, much has happened since then. After picking myself up and no longer feeling sorry for myself, I became determined to find out everything I possibly could about this crazy disease. Yes, I’ve had my ups and downs, but over the last 23years, I’ve managed to get along just fine. The most important part of my story is I’ve managed my MS through diet, daily exercise, supplements and the power of a positive mind! Not the expensive injectables the doctors want you to believe in. |
